Office Space Demand

Share

* Re “High Rent District,” March 6.

The article regarding Orange County office space had one sentence about increased demand for office space in the Glendale, Burbank and Universal City market and included those cities in a chart on office vacancy percentages.

A significant distinction that was not made is that, although vacancy percentages were similar for Los Angeles County and Orange County cities mentioned, the rental rates in those office markets are dramatically different. The article cited Orange County office rents at $1.83 per square foot per month. Burbank and Glendale are achieving rents of $2.30 to $2.50 per square foot and, in contrast to the quote by an Orange County real estate executive, those rates have resulted in recent announcements of new office building developments.
