Park Place--The Rancho Mission Viejo Land Conservancy is looking for 300 to 400 people to participate in the “March for Parks” on April 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The nationwide event was organized in 1990 to celebrate Earth Day, which will include more than 1,000 marches this year. At the conservancy, funds will go for environmental education programs and for tools to help maintain the trails. Marchers will be led in small groups by docents through the 1,200-acre reserve. The day’s events include a picnic, displays by environmental groups and children’s activities.

Marchers should collect pledges and bring contributions April 19. Prizes will be awarded for the top fund-raisers. Volunteers are also needed for registration, traffic control, setting up signs and booths, food preparation and cleanup. Information and registration: Laura Cohen, (714) 489-9778. The conservancy is between Ortega Highway and Camp Pendleton, five miles east of the San Diego Freeway.

Spirited Discussion--Donna Krucki, an O’Neill Regional Park ranger, will discuss her experiences radio tracking and monitoring mountain lions at the meeting of the Sierra Sage, a chapter of the Sierra Club. Become an Eggspert--Learn about eggs and the different animals that lay them at the Santa Ana Zoo’s Spring Sp”EGG”tacular on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tables will be set up throughout the zoo for visitors to observe eggs, and there will be children’s crafts and seed planting.
