Lancaster Man Arrested in Robbery
The FBI arrested a 19-year-old man Tuesday on suspicion of robbing the Edwards Federal Credit Union on March 10.
Agents arrested Anthony Donnell Tyner at his Lancaster home without incident and he was taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center, a federal facility in Los Angeles, where he is awaiting an appearance before a federal magistrate, according to the FBI.
Tyner is believed to be one of three robbers who jumped a teller’s counter immediately after entering the credit union and began heaving money into bags without saying a word or displaying any weapons.
Bank employees tucked explosive dye packs in the robber’s bags along with the money. The dye packs exploded shortly after the three fled in a stolen car, leaving the robbers covered in red dye.
They abandoned the money and their getaway car and fled in another car.
Agents were led to Tyner by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy who remembered seeing Tyner driving a car matching the getaway car’s description that day, the FBI said.
