Teen Concert to Feature Punk Rock

Punk rock will be the theme of the second Teen Concert on Saturday at the Camarillo Community Center.

More than 200 teens are expected at the concert, scheduled from 8 p.m. to midnight.

It’s a way to provide Camarillo youths with a safe and fun Saturday night, according to event sponsors.

Bands featured will be the Missing 23rd, No Motiv, Punk Ameoba, The Switch and Good for Nothing.

Concert organizer Tim Kunze, 18, selects the bands for the concerts, held the last Saturday of each month at the Camarillo Community Center or the Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo.

“Kunze is the right person to choose the music,” said Dan Turbyfill, recreation coordinator with the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District. “Who knows better what teens will like and listen to than teens themselves?”

The Boys & Girls Club Auxiliary will sell pizza and sodas. Admission of $3 provides $2 for the teen bands and $1 to offset the cost of police security.
