Van Nuys Airport Noise

* Thanks for the editorial calling attention to the excessive and increasing noise around Van Nuys Airport (‘Airport Restrictions Should Fly,” March 23). As you mentioned, the biggest obstacle is convincing the Federal Aviation Administration to regulate air traffic with regard to noise. The FAA has never wanted to be concerned with noise damage, but only flight safety.
It is time we put pressure on the FAA to regulate fully with regard to hours, traffic patterns, takeoff and approach paths, etc. It is apparent the aviation industry does not give a damn about self-policing its own noise pollution.
