Youth / News for the 18-and-under crowd
Sixteen students took part in the recent youth leadership conference at Valley Forge, Pa.
The trip was sponsored by the Orange County chapter of the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, a nonprofit group that educates students and teachers on good citizenship.
Valley Forge was the site of George Washington’s winter encampment in 1777 and 1778, during the Revolutionary War.
Students were selected based on essays they wrote on patriotism, as well as their citizenship activities, such as participation in school projects.
Those who went to the conference were Clara Perry of Valencia High School, Huong Chau of Santiago High School, Scott Drake of La Quinta High School, Laura Edwards and Bryan Wislocki of Pacifica High School, and Liset Elias and Saba Ghole of Bolsa Grande High School.
Also attending were Andy Huang and Leah Lowthorp of El Toro High School, Lorraine Lui of El Dorado High School, Rosa Palomino of Saddleback High School, Clement Tagle III of Servite High School, Brent J. Villalobos of Santa Margarita High School, and Kevin Koyama, Jon Malkin and Noreen Litonjua of Sunny Hills High School.
