2 Events Will Honor TWA Crash Victims

Two fund-raising events, “Hands Across Mulholland” and “A Run With a View,” will be held Sunday in honor of Gene, Etta, Candace and Jamie Silverman, who lost their lives aboard TWA Flight 800 in July.

Three of Jamie’s closest friends and classmates at Milken Community High School in Sepulveda Pass--Jeff Ebenstein, Justin Stone and Paul Tennen--as well as other students from the temple’s ninth- to 12th-grade youth group, worked together to organize a memorial fund for Jamie and her family.

“We wanted to do something that would bring happiness and help other people cope with this tragedy,” said Paul Tennen, 16, a Milken sophomore, who hopes the activities will become an annual event.

Late registration with a $20 entry fee begins at 6 a.m. at the high school. Awards will be given to the top three winners in each age division.

Wise Temple, 15500 Stephen Wise Drive. Entry fees are $10 for singles and $35 for a family of four.

Proceeds from Project Jamie, to be distributed through the Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles, will be used to send poor children to summer camp programs sponsored by the temple.
