Lawyer Shows Odd Sense of Patriotism

Share

Daniel Gonzalez, a member of the Ventura County Mexican-American Bar Assn., displays unique awareness and strange American patriotism when he describes efforts of the Simi Valley City Council as “racist” as it tries to reduce gang violence in his own city (“Border Patrol to Pull Out of Simi Gang Sweeps,” March 26).

This is especially odd when the anti-social activity is perpetrated largely by Gonzalez’s own Hispanic brethren. When he refers to supporters of Rep. Elton Gallegly’s attempt to keep Simi Valley “one of America’s safest cities” as “jumpers on Congressman Gallegly’s anti-immigrant bandwagon,” he further exposes his intellectual perceptions and his loyalties as a presumed officer of the court and an American citizen.

Whose national goals doth Gonzalez support--the United States of America and its law-abiding citizens or the acknowledged nations of origin of the illegal alien members of the street gangs? Which nation and its get does the esteemed counselor purport to champion?
