UPDATE: Dickson has emerged unexpectedly as the ace of the Angel staff. OK, so it was only one start and it’s still very early, but there’s no question Dickson’s complete-game, five-hit victory over Boston last week has been the Angels’ pitching highlight this season. Rogers, criticized for not being tough enough by George Steinbrenner during the stretch run last season, makes his 1997 debut for the Yankees. Outfielder Tim Raines, slowed by a strained left hamstring, began a rehabilitation assignment Monday at class-A Tampa.
