New Health Clinic to Hold Open House

Share

A new, nonprofit health clinic for low-income residents will celebrate an open house today.

As part of its primary mission, the center will implement the federal Supplemental Nutrition Program for women, infants and children.

The program, which bases eligibility on income level and nutritional risk, among other factors, provides nutrition education, counseling and referrals as well as vouchers that can be redeemed for nutritional supplements at local grocery stores.

The North Hollywood clinic, at 6311 Laurel Canyon Blvd., is sponsored by the Northeast Valley Health Corp., a San Fernando-based health provider that operates 10 similar centers throughout the Valley serving more than 62,000 people monthly.

The North Hollywood facility is expected to serve about 8,000 local residents a month.

“Northeast Valley had a clinic in North Hollywood, but it became too small and we needed to build a new one,” said Abel Sedillo Jr., public relations coordinator.

Today’s open house will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. with a special presentation at 3.
