Azusa Mayor Seeks River Nature Trail
Azusa’s new mayor has proposed turning the portion of the San Gabriel River that cuts through the foothill city into a natural trail where people could hike, fish and relax.
Mayor Cristina Cruz-Madrid began preliminary discussions Friday with officials from Los Angeles County and the state Department of Fish and Game as part of an effort to make the riverbanks more accessible to the public.
“This river is a wonderful resource,” she said. “We need to make it an amenity that is accessible.”
