Election Footnote

In the race for a seat on the charter reform panel, Maureen Kindel finished second Tuesday in the 11th City Council District. But she doesn’t want a runoff in June, saying top vote-getter Rob Glushon is the right man for the job. . . . Even so, Kindel is keeping her name on the June ballot. Why? If Kindel officially withdrew, Tuesday’s third-place finisher would face Glushon in the runoff. Kindel says she won’t campaign, to ensure a Glushon victory in June.

Winners and Losers

A Times exit poll found that 64% of Valley voters supported Proposition BB, just below the two-thirds majority needed to pass. Among them: Grant, Sylmar and Van Nuys high schools will get air conditioning.
