Clipper update--Forward Rodney Rogers, who missed the final three quarters of Tuesday night’s 127-117 loss to the Houston Rockets because of a sprained ankle, had a career-high 30 points in Thursday night’s 14-point loss to Minnesota. Starting guards Malik Sealy and Darrick Martin combined to miss 15 of 16 shots against the Timberwolves. The Clippers have a 2 1/2-game lead over Sacramento for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff berth with five games remaining.

Nugget update--Already eliminated from the playoffs, they have lost six consecutive games, including Thursday night’s 109-107 overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors. Antonio McDyess had a career-high 35 points against the Warriors. He scored 33 in the Nuggets’ 109-107 overtime victory against the Clippers on March 2 in Denver, tipping in the winning shot with four-tenths of a second remaining. However, McDyess later said the shot shouldn’t have counted because he released it after the 24-second clock had expired.
