Elaine C. Adams; Managed Cafeterias

Elaine Claudia Adams of Ventura, a retired school cafeteria manager, died Friday following a brief illness. She was 81.

Adams was born June 29, 1915, in Fresno and lived in Ventura County 40 years.

She was a cafeteria manager for nine years, most recently working for the Ventura Unified School District.

Adams was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Ventura and the Fiddlers Club of Oak View. She also belonged to American Legion Post 339 in Ventura.

Family members say Adams enjoyed many styles of dancing, from ballroom to country.

Adams is survived by daughters Gail Smith of Ventura and Joyce Heike of Palm Springs; sons Don Adams and Jerry Adams, both of Ventura; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1976; son Thomas Regan in 1978; and grandsons Christopher Regan in 1975, and Brian Adams in 1996.

Friends may call today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Rex Holt of Grace Baptist Church officiating.
