More Than 100,000 Denounce Germany

More than 100,000 Iranians marched on the German Embassy in Tehran to protest a German court ruling last week implicating Iranian leaders in the 1992 assassination of a Kurdish dissident and three comrades in Berlin. Hundreds of police in full riot gear ringed the embassy compound, but the protest appeared to be orderly. Meanwhile, the parliament held a closed session in which deputies said they would call for reducing diplomatic ties. But despite the tough talk, Iran appeared as committed to controlling the fallout from the court case as the European Union nations, which, with the exception of Greece, have recalled their ambassadors from Tehran but stopped short of severing relations or cutting trade ties.
