Xerox Unveils Line of Digital Copiers
Xerox Corp. has launched a family of four high-speed digital copiers that can be linked to computer networks, as the first step in its overall strategy to embrace digital technology. Stamford, Conn.-based Xerox rolled out four black-and-white digital copiers, with color models to debut in a few weeks, as it seeks to transform the copier--a stand-alone piece of office equipment--into an integral part of a networked computing environment. Analysts said digital products will be the majority of revenue by 2000. Currently, digital revenue makes up more than 30% of Xerox’s revenue, while more than 50% is from its stand-alone analog copier business. Xerox stock rose $1.375 to close at $56.625 on the New York Stock Exchange.
