Vitesse Semiconductor Posts 57% Revenue Hike

Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. in Camarillo reported record revenues and net income for the second quarter of fiscal 1997, which ended March 31.

Revenues were $24.6 million, an increase of 57% over the $15.6 million in the second quarter of fiscal 1996 and a jump of 13% over the $21.8 million in the first quarter of fiscal 1997.

Net income for the second quarter was $7.8 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with $2.6 million, or 9 cents per share, in the second quarter of fiscal 1996, and net income of $6 million, or 17 cents per share, in the first quarter of fiscal 1997.

“We increased revenues . . . over the second quarter of 1996 as a result of continued growth in our key markets of communications and test equipment,” said Lou Tomasetta, Vitesse president and chief executive officer.

Vitesse designs and manufactures integrated circuits for telecommunications, data communications and automated test equipment systems providers.
