A Scent for Savings
A new source for fragrances at discounted prices has opened in the Valley at a location old customers will know. Perfume Studio has taken over the location of the former Perfume City, on the second floor of Times Square Plaza, next door to Chin Chin.
Owner Michael Berlin knows a lot about scents because his father was in the perfume business for many years. In his new operation, Berlin is focusing on hard-to-find scents as well as stocking the old standards, and discounts are healthy on both.
An old favorite, Bal de Versailles, is a good buy. The 3-ounce eau de cologne sells at department stores for $41, but the tab here is $26.50. Ivoire de Balmain, in the 3.3-ounce eau de toilette spray, would run $70 at most places but is $39.95 at Perfume Studio.
Remember when Joy was the most expensive perfume there was? It’s lost that first-place honor in recent years, and you can buy it discounted here for $49.95 instead of $77. Fracas, which was popular in the ‘40s, is almost impossible to find today, but Berlin has it at $22.50 for the 3.4-ounce eau de cologne spray.
Several new fragrances are offered at discounts, which is unusual, so expect hefty savings on Fleur d’Eau by Rochas, Bulgari, Organza by Givenchy and 24 Fabours by Hermes.
For men, Kenzo retails at $63 but Perfume Studio’s discounted price is $44.95 for the 3.4-ounce spray. Davidoff’s Zino is popular right now and you can save $24.50 on 4.2-ounce spray testers, which sell for $32.50 each.
Perfume Studio is a beautifully organized, well-stocked store with easy parking. All in all, it’s a pleasant shopping experience.
