Release of Findings on Project Delayed

Ventura County parks officials have delayed the release of an environmental impact report on a proposed 16,000-seat amphitheater and 18-hole golf course at Camarillo Regional Park.

The parks department had initially planned to release the environmental document Monday, but has postponed the release because of new traffic information it has received, officials said. Some new maps of the park site are also being included in the report.

The environmental study will probably be released next week, said Bob Amore, the parks official overseeing the project.

The planned development calls for an outdoor theater and golf course to be built on the 325-acre park site just south of Camarillo. The two projects would be built and operated by private developers.

If approved, the county parks department, which has been directed to find new revenues to pay its own way, could collect as much as $500,000 a year in ticket proceeds and golf fees from the project.
