PRESCRIPTION POWER
Bottom line: Psychologists want to be able to prescribe medication for their patients, and say--if they agree to an additional 1,100 hours of pharmacological and clinical training--they should be allowed to do so. Currently, only psychiatrists, who acquire medical degrees as part of their training, can write prescriptions.
Chances: In its first legislative test, the bill received bipartisan support from the Senate’s Business and Professions Committee on Thursday.
