CHP Opening Area Community Center

Share

The California Highway Patrol’s Capistrano area will open a community service center Monday in the Rancho Santa Margarita Public Library.

Established so the CHP can better serve residents in nearby unincorporated areas, it will be open Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for people living in Rancho Santa Margarita, Robinson Ranch, Foothill Ranch, Portola Hills, Coto de Caza, Dove Canyon, Trabuco Canyon and Los Flores.

CHP Officer Joan Rivas said the satellite center, the CHP’s first in the area, is part of a pilot program to gauge the need for the agency’s services in the community. She said residents now have to drive as long as 45 minutes to obtain CHP services at its San Juan Capistrano office.
