The recruiting frenzy surrounding point guard Baron Davis of Santa Monica Crossroads High will end Monday night when he announces his college choice on live television preceding the Clipper-Utah Jazz NBA playoff game at the Sports Arena.

Davis, a 6-foot-2 senior, reportedly is deciding between UCLA and Kansas.

“To be honest, he still hasn’t made his mind up,” Crossroads Coach Daryl Roper said. “I’m still trying to help him get through this.”

Davis, The Times’ player of the year, will appear on the Clippers’ pregame show, which begins at 7 on Fox Sports West.

Fox Sports West is the official local network for UCLA. Station spokesman Steve Webster said that had no bearing on the decision to carry Davis’ press conference.

“We haven’t received any word about where Davis plans to attend,” Webster said. “He’s a high-profile local player, and he and his coach were receptive to coming on the air.”

Davis orally committed to UCLA last September but did not sign a letter of intent after he and his sister, Lisa Hodoh, became the subject of a Pacific 10 Conference investigation after Hodoh bought a used car from then-UCLA coach Jim Harrick.

Davis and Hodoh were cleared of any wrongdoing, but the incident played an indirect role in Harrick’s subsequent firing.
