Clipper Coach Bill Fitch gave his team copies of a column written by columnist Dick Rosetta for Friday’s Salt Lake City Tribune, ridiculing the Clippers for their performance Thursday.

“The Clippers hardly showed the gumption it will take to deal the Jazz only their fourth loss of the year at the [Delta Center],” Rosetta wrote. “The Clippers at times offered no more resistance than a scarecrow in a tornado.”

Forward Rodney Rogers, who sat out the third quarter Thursday night because of a sprained right ankle, practiced Friday and is expected to play tonight, although he may not start.

“The last time he had a sprained ankle, he came off the bench and helped us,” Fitch said, adding that he will start Lamond Murray if Rogers isn’t ready.

Rookie center Lorenzen Wright struggled in his first playoff game, missing 10 of 13 shots and getting six points and nine rebounds in 36 minutes.

“I was probably too jittery,” Wright said. “I was throwing the ball because I had so much energy. I’ve got all that behind me and I should be OK tomorrow.”

Wright was the target of a prank after Friday’s practice. A teammate pulled a chair out from under him as he tried to sit down.

“They’re trying to get their last couple of rookie jokes in before the season ends,” Wright said. “Next year, I’ll have a rookie to take under my wing.”
