From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The Russians and Americans have reached an agreement to move the Romanov jewels from the Corcoran Gallery of Art to the Russian Embassy compound, in what appeared to be a significant breakthrough in a face-off that has drawn national and international attention. Sources close to the exhibition say there is an agreement between the Russian government and its organizing committee and the American-Russian Cultural Cooperation Foundation, which has sponsored the “Jewels of the Romanovs: Treasures of the Russian Imperial Court” exhibition. Details will not be made public until the logistics of getting the jewels out of the Corcoran’s vault can be arranged.
