Convicted Molester Kills Counselors, Self
A man on probation for child molesting made an appointment to see his counselor and probation officer and then killed both men before shooting himself to death, Fort Wayne police said. Gary Wright fired four shots from a 9-millimeter pistol, killing probation officer Donald R. Knepple, 38, and counselor Steven Tielker, 41, both of Fort Wayne, Sgt. Bill Walsh said. He went into another room of the Family and Children’s Services Inc. center and shot himself to death. Seven other workers and a client were at the center when the shooting began. Wright, 45, was convicted of three counts of child molestation in January 1996 and placed on 4 years’ probation.
