Postal Workers Hope to ‘Stamp Out Hunger’

Share

The National Assn. of Letter Carriers is sponsoring a nationwide food drive May 10. Participants can leave canned or other nonperishable foods at their doorsteps for collection.

Postal workers in more than 7,000 cities in all 50 states will collect the food, which will then be distributed to local food banks and charities.

To participate in the “Stamp Out Hunger!” drive, people need only to leave the food near their mailboxes before regular mail delivery time on May 10, officials said.

Last year, the drive collected 45 million pounds of food nationwide.

Officials are hoping to collect 70 million pounds this year, which would set a record for the largest single-day food drive in the world.
