International Remote Shows 1st-Quarter Loss

International Remote Imaging Systems Inc. posted a loss in its first quarter compared to a profit last year, while its latest quarterly sales rose 60%.
International Remote lost $202,075 in the quarter that ended March 31, compared to a $206,912 profit a year earlier. The company attributed part of its loss to expenses involved with its acquisition of the PowerGene product line.
Sales in the latest quarter rose to $6.3 million, up from $3.9 million last year.
The Chatsworth-based company markets various medical laboratory equipment, including urinalysis machines.
