Cardinals Fall, 9-7

DENVER — Andres Galarraga hit a mammoth two-run home run and Vinny Castilla added a solo shot in the eighth inning Monday as the Colorado Rockies rallied for a 9-7 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Galarraga drove in four runs and Walt Weiss hit his second homer in two games for Colorado.
With the Rockies trailing, 7-6, Dante Bichette singled with one out and Galarraga followed with a 469-foot shot to left field off Mark Petkovsek (3-3). It his 11th homer this season and the second-longest home run in the three-year history of Coors Field.
One pitch later, Castilla hit his 13th homer.
Ron Gant homered and drove in three runs, and Gary Gaetti added a solo homer for the Cardinals, who have lost their last seven games at Coors Field.
Neither starting pitcher lasted past the fourth inning. St. Louis starter Danny Jackson worked the first 3 1/3 innings before giving way to Petkovsek.
