Hundreds Call In Tips on Atlanta Blasts

ATLANTA — Federal investigators said Tuesday they had received hundreds of telephone calls offering clues after their appeal for information on the bombings this year of an abortion clinic and a gay nightclub and the deadly Centennial Olympic Park bombing last July.
FBI spokesman Jay Spadafore said members of the public made hundreds of calls to a toll-free telephone hotline (888-ATF-BOMB) after the agency appealed for help in identifying possible witnesses and the author of letters claiming responsibility for this year’s bombings.
“We’re getting good response, and we have lots of leads to follow,” Spadafore said. “We have a number of leads to cover and agents are doing that as we speak.”
Federal investigators said Monday they were all but certain the same individual or group was behind the two bombings in Atlanta this year. They also said the chances of a link to the Olympic bombing were growing.
