College Will Show Off Its Aquariums

Share

The marine science department at Orange Coast College will hold an open house Saturday.

OCC boasts the largest cold-water aquarium in Orange County, a 1,000-gallon environment featuring an octopus tank and kelp forest. The facility also includes a 200-gallon warm-water coral aquarium and a 400-gallon tropical fish tank.

Students who help maintain the facilities will demonstrate how they test water, collect samples, feed animals and clean tanks. Much of the sea life is found off local beaches.

The marine science facility is a popular educational attraction, drawing more than 10,000 elementary and high school students a year.
