Special Pickup Due for Oversize Trash
The Costa Mesa Sanitary District is giving residential customers a chance to dispose of items typically too large for trash containers, such as water heaters, washers, dryers, carpeting and furniture.
Items will be picked up at no cost to residents. The program, which runs through Aug. 29, applies only to single-family homes.
Residents will have one day to dispose of large items. A notice will be left at each household two weeks in advance of the neighborhood collection date.
The district asks that residents consider donating usable items to charity before throwing them away. The district has information on groups seeking donations.
