Farmers’ Market to Close for Parade
Organic tomato lovers and connoisseurs of fresh-cut flowers in Ventura will have to forego their Saturday morning fix this weekend.
The Ventura County Certified Farmers’ Market will be closed Saturday to make way for the Ventura County Fair parade.
The itinerant farmers’ market sets up stalls of fresh fruit and flowers at the parking lot at Santa Clara and Palm streets each Saturday morning, year-round, rain or shine, from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
But on Saturday, the fair will use the parking lot as a staging area for the parade, which will wend its way down Main Street from Ventura High School to California Street.
The farmers’ market moved to its current location May 3, when the city began constructing a 500-space parking garage at the old spot, on the northwest corner of a municipal lot at Santa Clara and California streets.
The farmers’ market will reopen at the normal time Aug. 23.
