From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Church officials agreed not to raze the historic St. Peter’s Church in Boerne, Texas, ending a dispute over religious rights that reached the Supreme Court. Church leaders had wanted to tear down part of the sanctuary because the old church wasn’t big enough. City officials refused to give zoning permission because the church is in Boerne’s historic district. Under the agreement, the Roman Catholic parish will be allowed to tear down a section of the church to attach a sanctuary.
