Israel Delays Pullout Debate

JERUSALEM —
Israel on Sunday put off for at least a week a full Cabinet debate on setting the extent and timing of a troop withdrawal in the West Bank.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his top aides will meet Wednesday after Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordecai returns from a visit to Turkey, the premier’s office said.
On Saturday, U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright pressured the Israelis and Palestinians, telling them to make key decisions on peace before a new round of meetings begins in less than two weeks.
