McCutcheon Getting Plenty of Advice

Cornerback Daylon McCutcheon had been waiting until after a possible bowl game to weigh his future at USC, but now he says he is seeking information from several NFL general managers through Coach John Robinson as he decides whether to declare for the draft.

“One day I feel like I know what I should do and the next it’s the opposite,” said McCutcheon, who is also consulting his father, former NFL running back Lawrence McCutcheon. “It’s a big decision, but either way I think I’ll be successful.”

McCutcheon said it’s important to see if he is likely to be chosen in the first two rounds after a disappointing junior season.

“I think I have the potential--I’m not saying this year or next year--to be a first-rounder,” he said. “I think it would be stupid if I left this year and was going to be a third- or fourth-round pick.

“But there are a lot of things to consider--financial things, my family, school, graduating and the whole coaching thing,” he said, referring to questions about the future of Robinson and his staff.
