Disney AM Station Spells Out a New Format

Walt Disney Co.-owned radio station KTZN-AM (710) switched call letters Wednesday night to KDIS-AM, reflecting its format change last August to children’s programming supplied by the Radio Disney network.

The station, for years operating under the call letters KMPC, had switched last February to KTZN, otherwise known as “the Zone,” to call attention to its lifestyle-oriented talk format aimed at women. The change to KDIS, announced by Bill Sommers, the station’s new president and general manager, came following approval by the Federal Communications Commission.
