Holiday Parade Set to Step Off Sunday

After a three-year hiatus, the Chatsworth Holiday Parade will make its return Sunday.

Nearly 100 entries, including elves, snowmen, high school bands and equestrian groups, will march down Devonshire Street in Chatsworth under the theme “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

“We were reflecting on a theme and came to the conclusion that we’ve been blessed,” parade chairman Nick Montano said. “It really has been a wonderful life and it reflects the positivity which comes from living in such a wonderful community.”

Actor Todd Susman, currently in the CBS sitcom “George and Leo,” will be the grand marshal. Susman’s credits also include work on the TV shows “Jenny” and “Living Single” and the films “Beverly Hills Cop II” and “Night of the Running Man.”

Among other parade participants will be the winners of the Kiwanis Club essay contest for fifth-graders. They are Michelle Barnum and Nina Ho of Chatsworth Park Elementary School and Brandon Shindo of Superior Street Elementary School.

The parade was organized by the Kiwanis Club of Chatsworth, which took over for the community’s chamber of commerce. The chamber had sponsored it from 1980 to 1993.

The parade, which will run from 1 to 3 p.m., will begin at the intersection of Devonshire Street and Jordan Avenue, east of Topanga Canyon Boulevard. The route proceeds east on Devonshire and north on Mason Avenue, and ends at Mason Park.
