The city has received a $1.3-million grant from the Economic Development Administration to continue its efforts to attract technology companies and employment opportunities.

City officials will use the federal money to develop the Anaheim Technology Center at the former Rockwell International site.

The center will provide incentives to attract companies in fields including communications and energy systems.

In addition, the city will help businesses with support services, including job training and placement and management development.

Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove) worked with Mayor Tom Daly and other city officials to win the grant money. The city and Boeing North American Inc. created a partnership for the project.

Sanchez said the project will help the city replace jobs lost through defense-industry cutbacks.
