Clinton Postpones News Conference
Associated Press
WASHINGTON —
President Clinton gave White House reporters an early Christmas gift: He moved his news conference from Monday to Tuesday so not to conflict with the annual holiday party for the media.
Announcing the switch, Press Secretary Mike McCurry said Clinton preferred Tuesday anyway because it gives him an extra day to read briefing books. The conference will be at 11 a.m. PST at the State Department. The usual setting, the White House East Room, is filled with Christmas decorations.
