A man suspected of robbing a bank last year was arrested outside a relative’s home Saturday morning.

Huntington Beach police had been searching for Robert Louis Baum, 27, in connection with the July 3, 1996, robbery of the Union Bank of California on Adams Avenue, Lt. Jon Arnold said.

His last known address was Tacoma, Wash., but he was arrested by Los Angeles police in September on an unrelated matter, and he gave them a Huntington Beach address, Arnold said.

Detectives received a tip he might be at that address--the home of a relative--Saturday morning, and officers saw him driving away about 11:35 a.m., police said.

They pulled him over at Yorktown Avenue and Newland Street and arrested him without incident on suspicion of bank robbery, Arnold said.

The car was returned to Baum’s brother, he said.

Baum is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
