An attempted takeover robbery at a Long Beach drugstore was foiled when an employee was able to call police, officials said Wednesday.
Larry Barnes, 30, of Long Beach entered Thrifty Drugs at 6400 Spring St. with a gun, Long Beach police spokesman Harry Erickson said. Barnes tied up several employees and stuffed a plastic bag with money, Erickson said.
Another employee, unnoticed by the suspect, was able to call police, who arrested Barnes as he left the store, Erickson said. No one was injured. Barnes has been booked on suspicion of robbery and kidnapping.
