BUENA PARK : City Council Seeks to Join County Airport Authority
- Share via
The city is planning to join the Orange County Regional Airport Authority, which will make it the 10th municipal member, officials said this week.
Council members this week asked the staff to prepare a resolution for a vote on Jan. 5.
The authority is actively promoting a plan to build a commercial airport at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station when it closes in 1999.
The nine cities that already are members are: Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Cypress, Garden Grove, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Stanton and Villa Park.
Council members had discussed joining in the past but declined for several reasons, including the $3,000 annual membership fee. That fee has since been waived.
