Update--The StingRays, who reach the halfway point of the season tonight, have reason to be optimistic. Center Venus Lacy, finally recovered from a string of nagging injuries, has played three consecutive dominating games. Tonight she squares off against Natalie Williams, the ABL’s No. 2 scorer (21 points a game) and rebounder (10.5). Long Beach’s Yolanda Griffith leads the league in rebounding (12.2) and is fourth in scoring (19.5). Both teams have won two in a row and four of five. Long Beach is the ABL’s highest-scoring team, with an 80.2 average, and Portland is second in team defense.
