Power Outage Disrupts Service at 2 Hospitals
A power outage Friday disrupted service at two hospitals, forcing them to turn away some patients and restrict visits, officials said.
An underground cable supplying electricity to mostly commercial and industrial establishments in Hollywood and parts of Silver Lake blew out about 8:30 a.m., leaving Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles and Queen of Angels-Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center without power for most of the morning, according to the Department of Water and Power.
Both hospitals operated on emergency generators and no major problems were reported.
