With plans for new programs to assist cancer patients and their families beginning in January, the Wellness Community is seeking volunteers to help with clerical and other duties.
Founded in 1982, the Wellness Community is a nonprofit organization that provides free psychological, social and emotional support groups and programs.
Volunteers are needed starting Jan. 5 to answer telephones, greet visitors and do office work, according to Marty Nason, program director. Volunteers with even one morning or afternoon available every week or two are welcome.
Among the new programs offered are a second support group for young adults with cancer, teen networking group and new networking group for people with brain tumors.
