City Historian to Conduct Tour
Ventura historian Richard Senate will lead a new tour of city legends and lore Jan. 10.
The tour, scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m., will start at the Albinger Archaeological Museum, 113 E. Main St.
Senate will lead participants through the legends of old Ventura, from the lost mission to a little-known battle waged in 1838. Participants will learn about the first City Hall, which was located over a saloon, and about how the city’s first postmaster originated mail delivery in Ventura by carrying letters in his stovepipe hat.
Advance tickets are required. The charge is $6. For information, call the Community Services office at 658-4726.
