Nature Center Program Features Crafts, Experiments for Children
For a walk on the wild side, Oak Canyon Nature Center is offering children a chance to explore science and nature during the holiday break.
Winter vacation nature classes are being offered through Jan. 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays, except for New Year’s Day.
The program is geared for children ages 7 to 10. Each day will feature a different nature topic and could include trail walks, games, crafts, experiments and animal displays.
Upcoming topics include a look at bats, owls and other night animals; how to detect animal tracks; and lessons on collecting specimens for viewing under a microscope.
The cost is $8 per class, and reservations are required. Participants should bring a sack lunch.
A free family bird walk also will be offered Jan. 3 at 10 a.m. A naturalist will help parents and their children identify native birds.
Information: (714) 998-8380. The nature center is at 6700 E. Walnut Canyon Road, off Nohl Ranch Road, next to the Anaheim Hills Golf Course.
