Chapman University Offers Baseball Camp for Youths

City recreation programs will be on holiday the week after Christmas, but Chapman University is literally picking up the ball.

In a shorter version of its monthlong summer baseball camp, the college is offering a one-week deal starting Sunday.

“It’s our way of giving back to the kids in the community--getting the kids involved in baseball,” said Rex Peters, the coach who runs the camp.

Boys and girls from 7 to 13 are eligible for the camp in Hart Park on Glassell Street.

Instructional equipment is provided in the fee of $109 per child, Peters said. A San Francisco Giants team member will offer a workshop.
