One of the county’s art treasures will be getting a new multimedia showcase at the Ventura County Museum of History and Art, thanks to a grant from the Santa Barbara-based Wood-Claeyssens Foundation.
Edward Robings, executive director of the Ventura museum, said the $25,000 grant will cover more than half the cost of a new display case for the museum’s collection of George Stuart Historical Figures.
Stuart, who lives in Ojai, donated 180 of the finely detailed figures to the museum in 1979.
The new $55,000 display arrangement will allow more of Stuart’s figures to be shown at one time, and will include a multimedia program on the process that Stuart uses to create his art.
