From Times Wire Reports

Lawyers asked a federal judge in Salt Lake City to dismiss a lesbian teacher’s lawsuit in which she challenges a school gag order banning her from talking about her sexual orientation. The Utah attorney general’s office argued that Wendy Weaver’s comments regarding her lesbianism are not protected by the 1st Amendment. The American Civil Liberties Union filed a federal civil rights lawsuit on behalf of the 40-year-old mother of two after she was fired as volleyball coach for being a lesbian, then ordered not to talk about her sexual orientation while working her regular teaching job. The ACLU says it is optimistic the case will be settled.
